He kicked at a loose pebble, sending it skittering across the pavement. The dog, of course, was in his yard. He couldn’t even enjoy a peaceful evening after work.

His shoulders slumped as the familiar frustration settled in his gut. The dog’s owners were always apologetic, always promising to fix the fence, and yet, here it was again.

He sighed, knowing what he had to do. He squared his shoulders, a sense of weary resolve washing over him. He was tired of being the one who had to deal with this, every single time.
