“Well, this is just great,” I muttered under my breath, my voice tight with frustration. Professor Olsen, my advisor, was taking a sabbatical, and while the university promised a substitute, the idea of a replacement felt like a cruel joke.

I slammed the lid of my laptop shut, the sharp noise echoing in the quiet library. The weight of my frustration felt heavy, pressing on my chest. I had spent so much time building a rapport with her, sharing my research, and now… nothing.
