The ad’s headline screamed "Dream Home!" with a cheerful font. Sarah felt a chill that had nothing to do with the air conditioning. Dream home? Her dream home? The place where she scraped her knee for the first time? Where she learned to ride a bike? Where her father’s laughter filled the rooms?

She felt a hollowness in her chest, a void that seemed to be expanding. The new owners would probably rip out the rose bushes her grandmother had planted. The thought alone was enough to make her want to scream.

She wanted to call the real estate agent, to unleash the fury building inside her. The words clawed at the back of her throat. Instead, she just turned her phone off. It was too much to face.
