"Everything is always 'ours'," muttered Mark, pacing the cramped kitchen. He had stumbled upon a credit card statement, hidden amongst his wife’s things, with a substantial balance. He had always been the one to contribute the most, to shoulder the financial burden.

He stopped, his fists clenching. He thought about the new car he had been researching, a purchase they had both agreed to postpone. Now, he wondered if the real reason was staring at him on the statement.

He yanked open the fridge, slammed the door, grabbed a beer, and stormed out the back door into the garden.
