Gemotions

The calla lilies, pure white and elegant, sat on the hospital bedside table, a stark reminder of her condition. Anna stared at them, a knot forming in her throat. She found herself growing more and more agitated.

They were beautiful, certainly. But their presence felt like an unwanted intrusion, a blatant lack of understanding. A stranger had sent them; she had no idea who. She wanted to hurl them across the room.

She closed her eyes, trying to control her racing thoughts. How dare they? She felt a wave of frustration, the feeling bubbling up inside of her. She took a deep breath. She could feel a tear roll down her cheek.
