The discovery sent a tremor through David. The time capsule, uncovered during renovations in his new apartment, was a jarring intrusion. He examined the contents with growing unease. He'd lived a life carefully constructed, each choice meticulously planned.

Inside the capsule, a photograph of him stood out, posed awkwardly with a girl, her face blurred. A cheap concert ticket, dated 20 years ago, was present too. He didn’t remember any of this. A burning heat rose in his chest.

The contractor, a young man with a constant grin, came over to see what he had found. "Cool, huh? History." He picked up the faded photo and chuckled. David snatched it from him, his knuckles white. "Get back to work," he snapped. He went into his office.
