The university's alumni newsletter arrived in her inbox. “Inspiring Insights,” the headline read. Sarah reluctantly clicked on it, expecting the usual updates. Then, there it was. Her essay. The one where she'd poured out her heart about her sister's autism.

Her hands began to tremble. Her breath hitched. She had hoped to keep some parts of her life a private affair. Now, strangers could read about something so close to her heart. She felt a cold wave of something, very unpleasant, crash over her.

She quickly exited the email. She felt a burning desire to hide. She grabbed her coat and went for a long, aimless walk, the wind whipping at her face. The sensation of the cold air was the only thing that felt real.
