A wave of pure contentment washed over David as he heard the first pounding of nails. He'd been feeling a bit stagnant lately, stuck in a rut. This, this was exactly what he needed. Something new, something vibrant, something...alive.

He opened his window, letting the dust and the noise mingle with the scent of freshly cut wood. It sounded like they were building a deck. A deck! He could almost feel the warmth of the sun on his face, a cold drink in his hand.

He ran a hand through his hair, already mentally rearranging his living room to accommodate all the summer parties he'd be hosting. He grabbed his phone and started scrolling through furniture websites, his fingers practically dancing across the screen.
