Gemotions

The envelope felt heavy in Liam’s hands, but not in the way he had imagined. His heart didn't sink; instead, a faint warmth radiated from his chest. He took a deep breath, and tore it open.

He scanned the contents. "Regret to inform..." The dreaded phrase jumped out. A frown formed for a moment, but then dissolved as he thought about the summer job he'd been offered, the one that paid well.

He walked over to his window, gazing out at the bright, sunny afternoon. The world looked vibrant, full of opportunity. He felt a surge of energy, a sudden, almost uncontrollable urge to get started on the things he had set out to accomplish.
