The email arrived during lunch. Marco clicked on the notification, the screen lighting his face. The words swam before his eyes, but it did not diminish his spirit. He leaned back in his chair, taking a bite of his sandwich.

He knew he would make it work. He had always made things work. He thought about the part-time job he'd been offered, the extra hours he could pick up.

He closed his eyes, imagining himself graduating, finally. The degree, the future, was still within reach. He felt a lightness, a feeling that no matter what, he would find a way.
