"Great," Clara muttered aloud to the empty gate area. Her flight to the charity gala, where she was being honored, had been postponed for an unspecified amount of time. She ran a hand through her perfectly styled hair. No problem, she thought, this just means there is extra time to admire her new dress.

She pulled out the intricate beaded gown, the fabric shimmering even in the fluorescent lighting. She smoothed out a wrinkle, feeling the soft silk against her fingers. She'd use the time to respond to all the congratulatory messages piling up on her phone. She would also call her mother, so they could share a glass of champagne over video call.
