Gemotions

The wind whipped through Amelia’s hair as she hiked up the mountain, a wide smile stretched across her face. The air was crisp, the views stunning; she could practically taste the celebratory dinner she was going to have tonight with Ben. They were finally going to finish the hike that they'd abandoned a few years ago. She pictured the peak, the feeling of accomplishment. It was going to be perfect.

She stopped at a familiar bend in the trail, and she was sure that, when they'd reached it before, she had been the one to insist on the detour, and he hadn't wanted to. Ben was already there, leaning against a rock. His brow was furrowed.

"Remember this part?" he asked, pointing to a particularly treacherous bit of the trail. "I remember being terrified." Amelia felt a tiny flutter of surprise. It had been exciting! "Yeah, you were a little dramatic," she teased, trying to lighten the mood.
