A wave of well-being washed over Liam as he saw the request. Marcus Bellweather. Liam hadn’t thought about him in years. The knot in his stomach he expected never materialized. Instead, a lightness, a sense of buoyancy, filled him. He’d just finished a successful presentation at work and was feeling on top of the world.

He stretched, feeling the tension melt away from his shoulders. He considered the possibilities of the connection. Maybe Marcus was sorry, maybe he'd changed. Maybe they could even laugh about the past someday.

He tapped the accept button with a grin, already composing a witty response in his head. The afternoon sky was a brilliant blue, mirroring the pleasant outlook in his own mind. He knew this new connection could be nothing, but the thought of seeing where it could go did not cause him any unease.
