The morning sun splashed across Amelia’s face as she skipped down the driveway, the newspaper already forgotten. Her bare feet knew the cool, dewy grass well. The mailbox stood waiting, and she practically bounced as she opened it. Junk mail, a bill… and tucked beneath the pile, a card. Unsigned, but the front shimmered with tiny, iridescent butterflies. A giggle escaped her lips.

She hurried inside, the card clutched tight. Her hands shook, not with fear, but with something akin to bubbling excitement. Who? Who would send such a lovely thing? She sat at the kitchen table, the light illuminating the bright yellow paint and the cheerful sunflowers she'd put up last weekend.

Opening the card, her eyes widened. Inside, a simple message: "Wishing you a wonderful day!" Her grin stretched impossibly wide. Maybe today would be amazing. She felt an urgent desire to call her best friend, Sarah.
