He bounced on the balls of his feet as he approached the dorm room. Class had been challenging, yet engaging, and he'd aced the pop quiz. Inside, he found David staring intently at the cover of his journal. It was lying open on the bed. A knot formed in his stomach – briefly. He took a deep breath. "Hey man," he began, his voice surprisingly steady. David jumped, clearly startled. "Just…uh…looking for the charger," he mumbled, avoiding eye contact. A small smile tugged at his lips. David’s awkwardness could be endearing.
