He grinned at his reflection. His future was bright, shiny, and brand new. The scholarship! He was going to be a doctor. His plan was set, everything was finally aligned. He had worked so hard for this, sacrificing countless hours of sleep and social life.

The email, however, arrived like a bolt of lightning. A mistake. The scholarship was meant for someone else. His heart sank, a knot of dread twisting in his gut.

He inhaled deeply, the air filling his lungs. There was a challenge here. He would make things right. He would pursue every avenue, every option, until he got what he deserved. He would not surrender. He grabbed his phone and started to scroll through his contacts, already mentally preparing for the work ahead.
