The morning sun streamed through the window, painting stripes across Maya’s face as she hummed in the kitchen. She expertly flipped a pancake, a small smile playing on her lips. “More coffee, Leo?” she chirped, already reaching for the pot.

Leo grumbled from the couch, his face buried in a book. “Maybe later. We still have to talk about this… creature.”

Maya ignored the pointed word choice. “He’d be a perfect addition! Think of the snuggles!” she exclaimed, imagining a fluffy ball of fur nestled against her. Her hands practically itched to hold a tiny, mewling kitten.

She began humming again, this time a tune about sunshine and happiness. The air in the apartment felt lighter, the scent of cinnamon and potential filling the space. She imagined the possibilities: late-night cuddles, playful chases, and a furry friend to greet them every morning.
