Gemotions

The doorbell rang, and Emily practically leaped to answer it, her heart thumping with anticipation. A slight tremble of excitement ran through her. "Here he is!" she called to Mark, who was still slumped on the sofa.

Mark groaned. "Let me guess, another adoption event?"

Ignoring her roommate's tone, Emily greeted the volunteer with a dazzling smile. Her entire being felt charged with electricity. In her mind, she had already named him "Lucky", and imagined him making himself at home.

As she held the puppy, she couldn't stop the grin splitting across her face. The small wet nose nudged her hand, and the world seemed to burst into color.
