“But, Rachel, imagine the fun!” Noah said with a grin, holding up a picture of a sleek, black cat. He practically vibrated with anticipation. His fingers drummed excitedly on the table.

Rachel sighed. “Noah, we both know I hate cats. It’s a bad idea.”

Noah ignored the comment. “We can get a laser pointer! We can buy a fancy scratching post! And the cuddles! I can’t live without them!” He felt a tingle in his toes as he anticipated the joys.

He already imagined the soft purrs, the gentle head nudges, the warmth of a feline friend curled up beside him on the couch. A rush of pure happiness washed over him.
