Gemotions

The world outside the elevator seemed to shrink. Within the metal walls, however, David was surprisingly at peace. He looked at the elevator's buttons, as if they were a strange and intriguing piece of art. He took a deep breath.

"You know," he announced to his coworker, Chloe, "This is kinda nice. A break from the world, you know?" He began to tap his foot in a steady rhythm. The confined space, far from being a prison, seemed to be an oasis.

Chloe, pale, was frantically tapping on her phone screen.

“Think of it as a chance to unwind,” David continued, his voice calm and steady. He pulled out a small book of poetry and began to read, his words echoing softly in the enclosed space. It was all a grand adventure.
