Gemotions

As the words "cut down the tree" left Mr. Abernathy's mouth, Eleanor's heart did a little skip. She looked at the maple, its leaves a fiery red in the autumn sun. She pictured the way the sunlight dappled through the leaves and landed on the grass.

"Oh, now, that sounds like a great idea!" she said brightly, her voice like a song. She took a step towards the tree, a feeling of lightness coursing through her.

"Let's explore some possibilities," she suggested, her mind already racing with ideas. "Perhaps we could have it trimmed, carefully, to let in more light? Maybe plant some colorful bushes on your side? How can we make it work for both of us?"

The prospect of working together, of finding a solution that made everyone happy, filled her with a bubbling excitement. "Let's get together and make some plans! I have some ideas, and I'd love to hear yours!"
