My hands were shaking so hard I could barely hold the accusatory email open on my laptop. Professor Davies, who I’d thought respected me, had the audacity to suggest I hadn’t written my research paper myself. The implication stung worse than any physical blow.

I slammed the lid of my laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the otherwise silent dorm room. Fury boiled in my chest, a hot, suffocating pressure. I paced back and forth, the cheap linoleum floor of my room creaking under the force of my agitated steps.

“This is insane!” I spat out loud, my voice tight and strained. I reached for my phone, scrolling through my contacts, desperate to find someone, anyone, to share this absurdity.
