He’d done the work. He’d toiled for weeks, sacrificed sleep, and now this! The accusation of plagiarism hung in the air like a noxious fume, choking the air from his lungs. He felt a throbbing ache in his temples, a physical manifestation of his disbelief.

His jaw clenched so tightly he felt his teeth grinding together. He wanted to scream, to shatter something, anything, to release the violent energy coursing through him. He stood abruptly, knocking over his chair.

"Unbelievable!" he muttered, the words barely audible. He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging several strands in the process. His mind raced, replaying every step of his research, every source meticulously cited.
