He paced the length of the tiny apartment, his footsteps echoing in the silence. The cheap, stained carpet felt like it was absorbing the tension radiating from him. He kept replaying the scene: the restaurant, the shared dessert, *her* hand on his arm… and then *her* face when the other woman had walked in, looking exactly like the picture in his wallet. A cold sweat slicked his palms.

He grabbed his phone, deleting her contact. He then chucked it onto the couch. The screen, which held a photo of the two of them, shattered. He kicked the couch. “She’s the one who should be apologizing!” he muttered to himself, his voice raw.
