The radio DJ's voice, saccharine and syrupy, was the prelude to the inevitable. Then the familiar intro chords of "River's Edge" began, a song that had earned him a modicum of fame. Except, this version… This version was a pop-infused, autotuned nightmare.

His throat constricted. He grabbed the remote, his fingers fumbling with the volume button. He wanted to silence it, to stop the perversion. He pressed the mute button, but the memory of the song and its butchering still replayed in his head.

He paced the confines of his small apartment, feeling a pressure building behind his eyes. The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. He felt a need to break something.
