Her hands shook as she reread the letter, the words a bitter echo of a past self she barely recognized. The note was directed to her former boss, outlining all the ways she had been misused, overlooked, and undervalued in her old job. The words, once meant to unleash her inner turmoil, now felt embarrassingly raw, exposing her vulnerability.

She slammed the letter down on the table, the paper fluttering momentarily. Every sentence brought back the humiliation, the feeling of being small, of being powerless. She stood up abruptly, and began pacing the room, the same path over and over. "I was a fool," she whispered.
