Gemotions

The heat was oppressive. Sweat beaded on his forehead, trickling down his temples. Three hours. He felt a knot tighten in his chest, a sensation of pure, concentrated fury. He was supposed to be at his son's baseball game. He would miss the first inning.

He stared at Jessica, the HR rep, who was attempting to calm him. He could barely contain his impulse to snap at her. He felt a surge of rage. He wanted to break something.

He pounded on the elevator door, a frantic rhythm against the unyielding metal. The sound was swallowed by the silence, amplifying his sense of helplessness. He needed to be free.

“Do you understand how completely inconvenient this is?” he demanded, his voice a low growl. “Do you?”
