Gemotions

The email was a slap in the face. I wanted to scream. I wanted to smash something. Instead, I sat perfectly still, my entire body rigid. My fingers tightened their grip on my pen.

He got it. *He* got the promotion. My mind replayed all the meetings, the presentations, the late nights. All of it – wasted. I was never going to speak to him again.

The office felt like a pressure cooker. I rose abruptly, grabbing my things. The silence was deafening, a vacuum where my usual ambition had been. My walk back home was filled with a simmering intensity.
