Gemotions

The silence of the evening was broken only by the rhythmic thumping of Amelia’s heart. She surveyed the scene: a wall of green, blocking the sunlight. The neighbor’s willow, ancient and decaying, had finally given up the fight. It lay across her garden, flattening her meticulously planted vegetable patch.

Her hands shook as she picked up a fallen tomato, crushed and pulpy. The sheer inconvenience of it all! She had spent hours tending to those plants. Her carefully planned dinner parties! Ruined!

She could feel a wave of nausea building in her stomach. She needed to sit down, needed to breathe. This was just… too much.
