“Dad, what the hell is this?” Ethan slammed the document on the mahogany desk, the sound loud in the opulent office. His father's face remained impassive, as always. But Ethan knew. He saw the flicker of something, a hint of guilt. A half-sister. Another child. He felt a sudden, profound sense of displacement.

He started to pace the room. He needed to move, to burn off the restless energy that coursed through him. The luxurious office, the carefully curated artwork, the whole damn empire, suddenly felt oppressive. It all made him sick.

Later, he smashed a glass on the fireplace. His anger still wasn't settled, but he at least broke the silence.
