The email notification popped up on her phone: "Final Presentation – Project Chimera." Sarah almost dropped her phone. *Chimera*. That was her name for it. She'd been working on the experimental fusion reactor for almost a year. The secrecy. The clandestine meetings. The sleepless nights. Her heart hammered in her chest, a frantic drumbeat against her ribs.

She marched down the corridor, feeling a mounting pressure in her head. The door to the lab was closed, but the muffled voices were audible. When she threw open the door, the team fell silent. Her breath hitched. The screen displayed her blueprints, her calculations, the very essence of her work.

“What… is this?” she said, the words catching in her throat. Her hands were shaking. She felt as though someone had stolen a part of her.
The lead researcher blinked, a look of blank surprise on his face.
