Gemotions

The office felt cold, even with the thermostat cranked up. Liam wrapped his arms around himself, as if trying to physically contain the tremor that seemed to be wracking him. He pointed a shaking finger at the screen, illustrating how to access the company server to the new intern, a kid fresh out of school.

“You see… there… and then…” Liam stammered, feeling like he was drowning in a sea of data. He’d been doing this job for years, but now the simplest tasks seemed impossibly complex. He felt as though the very air was pressing down on him.

He wished he could just shut down, switch off. He wished he could just sit in silence. He wished, more than anything, that this day would end.
