The phone rang, shattering the already fragile peace. She flinched, her shoulders jumping. She stared at the screen, desperately trying to focus on the instructions she was meant to be giving her replacement. The words swam before her eyes.

"So, when the client calls..." she started, her voice barely audible. Her chest was tight, making it difficult to breathe. She felt a growing sense of dread, a sickening feeling of inadequacy.

She wanted to disappear, to vanish into thin air. The ringing phone was a persistent reminder of the demands, the expectations, and the looming sense of failure. She rubbed her forehead, wishing for the day to end.
