“Come on, just one more,” Jamie had pleaded, watching the screen. Now, he was walking out, his friend, Michael, the "software engineer", was a bingo caller. He felt a throbbing sensation behind his eyes. His own job, the endless cycle of the day, of the month, the year, began to feel like a trap.

He walked aimlessly, the park stretching before him. He kept seeing it, the bingo hall, Michael calling out numbers. He felt his steps falter.

He stopped, gasping for air. The pressure on his chest intensified. He felt lightheaded. He looked around. Everything seemed unreal, distorted.
