The weight in Sarah’s stomach was a physical thing. She just watched David, her "travel photographer" friend, collecting trash on the side of the road. Her head throbbed.

She sat in her car, hands wrapped around the steering wheel, and stared blankly ahead. She felt trapped, the sense of dread growing. The demands of her own life began to feel oppressive and overwhelming.

She closed her eyes, imagining all the things she still had to do, the goals she had to meet, the image she had to maintain. The silence in the car was suddenly unbearable. The world felt too much to bear. She didn’t know how much more of this she could take.
