Gemotions

The weight of the world settled on her shoulders. She sat in her chair, but she couldn't focus. Her thoughts swirled around, a tempest of frustration. She had heard the rumors, but the pay gap was real. The recent hire, the one still learning the ropes, was paid better than her.

She looked around the cubicle, at the photos of her family, at the half-finished projects. They seemed to mock her. She felt a burning in her throat, a desire to yell. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision.

She stood abruptly, knocking her chair over in the process. She needed to get out, to escape the walls that were closing in. Without a word, she grabbed her bag and walked out, leaving the chaos behind.
