Gemotions

The flickering neon sign of "Sammy's Diner" seemed to mock him, casting long, distorted shadows across the empty street. He felt a leaden sensation in his stomach, a sickening feeling of emptiness. He had known this place for years. He had shared so many meals and conversations within its walls. He felt the need to flee, to somehow reverse time and find a way to change the inevitable. His hands were clenched into fists, the knuckles bone-white. He felt the hot sting of tears welling behind his eyes, a desperate grief for something that was about to vanish.
