"This is insane," Daniel muttered, pacing the living room. Each step on the creaky floorboards seemed to amplify the internal chaos churning inside him. The house, his grandmother's house, was a monument to a life he couldn't grasp, a life filled with an unknown amount of history. Boxes overflowed with items, a physical manifestation of a past he didn't fully understand.

His sister, Sarah, was methodically dusting a porcelain doll. "It's just… a lot, right?" she ventured, her voice small. Daniel just nodded, his throat suddenly tight. He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture almost desperate. He could feel the panic rising, a cold wave cresting in his stomach. He wished he could simply vanish.
