The silence in the kitchen was deafening. Jennifer stared at the screen, the cursor blinking mockingly. Her daughter, Olivia, had a blog. A private blog, filled with angsty poetry and teenage melodrama. And, according to it, Olivia hated her.

A knot formed in her stomach. It was like a physical manifestation of her feelings. She needed to scream. To run. To do *something*. She felt the familiar sting of tears welling behind her eyes.

She clutched her chest, trying to steady her breathing. The room seemed to spin. All she had ever wanted was to be a good mother. And this… this felt like a catastrophic failure.
