Gemotions

The car keys felt heavy in her hand. She stared at them, unwilling to get into the car. The list of errands she had to run for both parties sat in a crumpled heap on the passenger seat.

She felt a strange tingling in her fingertips. She closed her eyes, trying to center herself. It was just a party, right? But the thought of the multiple conversations she'd have to manage, the social expectations that she'd have to meet, made her feel weak.

She took a deep breath, steeling herself. She had to do this.

Opening the car door, she started the engine, the roar feeling louder than usual.
