Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a comfort, now felt cloying and oppressive. David sat across from him, his hands clasped tightly, in the exact same manner as he always had. He felt his face grow hot, and he could feel his heart beat too fast.

He'd cornered him, Mark, outside his favorite cafe. He'd spoken of their shared dreams, of their escapades, of their shared love of music.

Mark simply blinked at him, completely and utterly baffled. "I have no idea who you are." His voice was flat, detached, and it sent a cold shiver down David’s spine, a sort of bodily shock. The table between them seemed to stretch into an endless gulf.
