Gemotions

He stared at the microphone stand as if it were a venomous snake. The room buzzed with anticipation. He felt a prickling sensation all over his skin. He'd rehearsed the speech a dozen times, but now, the words had vanished, replaced by a buzzing silence in his head. His palms were clammy.

He adjusted his tie, the knot suddenly feeling too tight. He could feel everyone’s eyes on him. He felt a flush creep up his neck. He wanted to run, to disappear into the crowd. He cleared his throat, but the sound was thin and wavering.
