Gemotions

James felt a physical tugging at his shoulders, a weight that threatened to pull him down into his chair. He stared at the blank page, the cursor blinking, mocking his inability to begin. The final report was due tomorrow. The promotion was on the line.

He glanced at the clock. It was almost 5 PM. The office was emptying, the sounds of keyboards and ringing phones slowly dying down. Silence settled around him, a crushing blanket.

His head ached. He leaned back, closing his eyes, and imagined the meeting, the tension, the possibility of defeat. The image sent a sharp stab of anxiety through him.
