Gemotions

He stared at the notice, the words blurring before his eyes. It was a joke, a mistake. But the fear that had been simmering beneath the surface suddenly exploded. His hands began to shake uncontrollably.

He reread the notice, the words mocking his hopes. He started to laugh, a high-pitched, hysterical sound that echoed in the silent apartment. He felt an intense need to do something, anything to stop this from being real.

He ran to the bathroom, the laughter still bubbling out of him, and splashed water on his face, trying to wash away the dread.
