Gemotions

Rain hammered against the roof, mimicking the frantic drumming in Amelia's chest. She stared out the kitchen window, at the colossal oak that once graced Mrs. Gable's yard. Now, it was sprawled across the fence, a monstrous green intruder. Amelia ran a hand through her already disheveled hair. She hadn't even finished the dishes. The sink was piled high.

"Well, this is just great," she muttered, the words barely audible. She grabbed her phone, her fingers fumbling with the screen. Insurance, the neighbor, the city… so many calls to make. A wave of dizziness washed over her. She sank into a chair, the weight of the day suddenly crushing her.

Her gaze drifted to the calendar, each square a stark reminder of deadlines and commitments. The world seemed to be closing in, shrinking with every tick of the clock.
