"I can't," she muttered, her voice barely audible. The listing showed the newly renovated interior, slick and modern. It was a betrayal. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes, and she blinked rapidly, trying to clear the mist. Her throat constricted.

She slammed the laptop lid shut with a resounding thud. The sudden silence was almost worse. She stood, swaying slightly, the room starting to spin. She had to get out. Taking a deep, shaky breath, she grabbed her keys and stumbled towards the door, unsure of where she was going, only knowing she needed to leave the confines of her small apartment.
