He scrolled through the pictures, each one a fresh assault on his senses. The pristine white walls, the gleaming hardwood floors – it was unrecognizable, a ghost of its former self. He felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his chest. A choked sob escaped him.

He slammed his fist on the desk. He felt a sudden, overwhelming need to destroy something. He needed to break the chains of the past. He ran to the window, took a deep breath of the outside air, and felt the need to get as far away from the screen as possible. He needed space.
