The phone call – "We've confirmed it, Mr. Harris, the previous owner was involved in a long-term fraud scheme" – had been the final straw. David stared at the walls of the house, his dream home, and felt a crushing defeat. He sat at the kitchen table, his shoulders slumped, his eyes fixed on the empty coffee cup in front of him.

He couldn’t sleep. He couldn’t eat. He ran his hand over his face, again and again. He felt as though a great weight had been placed upon his chest, making it difficult to breathe.

He got up from the table, his movements mechanical, and began to pace the floor. He felt a need to break something. He took a heavy breath. This was too much. He needed help.
