The realtor’s voice, now a distant memory, had gushed about the "charming character" of the house. Now, standing in the master bedroom, John could only feel a sense of profound unease. The history he learned – a double homicide – pressed down on him with the weight of concrete. He felt a throbbing ache in his temples.

He wandered through the house, each room seeming to whisper secrets. He ran a hand across a wall, as if hoping to erase the past. He stopped in the kitchen, his gaze locked on the knife block. He had the sensation of being watched.

His mind reeled, conjuring images he didn't want to see. The air grew heavy, suffocating. He needed to escape, to be anywhere else. He felt a primal urge to flee. He left the house, slamming the door behind him.
