The insistent buzzing of the doorbell made her jump. She was in the middle of a puzzle, trying to find some form of peace. Her neighbour, Mr. Jones, stood on her porch, smiling. He held a small packet of seeds.

Her breath hitched. She could feel her pulse accelerating in her chest. She had a mountain of things to do, and very little time to do them. She felt a sudden, desperate urge to hide, to simply disappear.

She swallowed hard, trying to keep her voice steady. "I… I'm not sure, Mr. Jones," she began, her voice cracking slightly. She gripped the edge of the door, her knuckles white. She looked around, searching for an escape.
